To Bare Or Not Too Bare

Brides following the latest wedding dress trends will see that it often reflects the high street catwalk luxe. Through variant silhouettes and fabric manipulation, each year brings us a new twist on the classic wedding dress design. 2013/14 designers rehashed the pretty 1950's tea length length dress and also began to turn the tide on the classic ivory dress by showcasing colours like nude and blush pinks. 2015 brings us more risque colours like powder blue and shades of grey. Also baring itself on the catwalk this year, is the two piece; crop top and skirt. Check out Reem Acra's beautiful take on this trend du jour above.

Personally, I love this trend and if I had Miranda Kerr's midriff, I would be rocking it too! However, rocking this look on a Saturday night is one thing but perhaps not on one's wedding day. Wedding photographs are for life and not just for Facebook, no woman wants to flick through their wedding snaps in years to come, cringing at their wedding dress just like they did when they reminisced about the space boots they wore, comme le spice girl.

If you are a lover of fashion, when shopping for THE dress - my advice would be to keep the big fashion statements to a minimum and stick to classic styles with a subtle edge of modernity. I personally loved Olivia Palermo's modest two piece - Carolina Herrera cashmere sweather and tulle skirt. This stunning alternative to the typical wedding dress grabs my attention with it's sophistication of the simple neckline and completed with a contrast of drama with all those layers of tulle and embroidery. If it's not traditional enough for you - it would make a chic excuse for a day after outfit! Who said one dress is enough?!
