As a bespoke event styling business, our aim is to create or enhance the aesthetic of your venue/s and we love unusual requests and a good challenge so when Ailish & Dillon reached out to us with little notice to help them pull off their surprise wedding bbq, we were more than up for it! Returning from Australia for a long holiday, long time couple Ailish & Dillon wanted to surprise their family and friends with their surprise wedding on the pretence of their son's Christening.
We began the design process with a site visit to the family pub, Conway's, set in the heart of the sleepy village of Kildavin, Carlow. It was large regular, car park but we could instantly share their vision of a boho style bbq complete with outdoor lighting, fire pits for heat and barrels for tables. They didn't want to emulate a traditional wedding reception but rather plan a party to celebrate with all of their friends that reflected their laid-back style and love of the outdoors that they had become accustomed to in their new home of Australia. And that they did!
After planning the layout, we had worked out the best locations for each of the suppliers and the order of the day. The styling menu included a fun hydration station full of bubbles, beer and dispenser cocktails, for drinks reception. A defined dance floor space taking you from dusk to dawn, a music tent, a guestbook area, a memories tree, a kids play area within arms reach of their parents, lawn games, a cosy pop up style restaurant & eating area, an ice cream truck, traditional Irish music, a chill out area with fire pits and cosy blankets and bundles of bunting!
We thoroughly enjoyed setting up, styling and coordinating Ailish & Dillon's wedding. It was so unique and felt like a private festival with the people of Kildavin out in their droves to celebrate with the happy couple.
